Email: about the last NES games

Hey there. Just saw your post with the last games the NES had after the SNES was introduced. I forgot how many of those games were released after it and how good they were. Yeah there wasnt a Mario or zelda but still very good ones.

I wanted to see what new games (if any) were released or will be released this year for the wii after the wii u was introduced and so far I came up with this:

Angry birds

The croods
Disney Infinity
Fifa 14

Just dance 2

Skylanders swapforce

And I think that other kiddy-movie based shovelware in the way

Yeah the most succesful console after the NES and Gameboy is having it last days full with kiddy shovelware and a smartphone port. I guess the only best ones are skylanders and just dance but still they doesn’t hold a light with what the NES had in its last years. Even Nintendo made good games like Zora’s revenge and kriby’s adventure for it. The SNES had a DKC game and a Kibry one even when the N64 was out. Heck the gamecube even had a AAA zelda as athe last game from them. The wii? a disc with kirby games.

The wii is now close to the 100 million consoles. It’s far from the PS2  but it’s still a high number. The wii deserved a better farewell. It’s like they try to pretend it never existed. Even from the “fans”.

Take care!

This is a great point. Nintendo cared more about giving the Gamecube a ‘farewell’ than anything with the Wii… and the Wii was the best selling Nintendo home system ever made. Nintendo seems as if they wanted to get rid of the Wii and go straight to Wii U… which the Wii U is a Gamecube HD with the Wii branding.

The picture of the Wii U suggests that Nintendo believes the Wii’s success was entirely due to…

-‘Different’ hardware due to the competition. (e.g. motion controls and Gamepad)
-A multiplayer party game at launch (e.g. Wii Sports and Nintendo Land)
-The simple and light brand (Wii and Wii U)

You readers want an analysis? It is that Nintendo became the ultimate Birdman. They have no understanding as to why the Wii was successful. A more interesting hypothesis is that they do have an idea of Wii’s success (my theories on it, of it being more like Atari 2600 and NES than N64 and Gamecube), and they are scared to death that it is true.

I thought the Gamecube’s failure signaled that the Gamecube strategy was wrong. Nintendo saw the Wii success as the success story of accessibility and proper branding. So if Gamecube games, in HD, have the Wii branding and have proper accessibility, they should all sell. Right? It looks like the Wii U’s failure will be Nintendo coming to grips that the Gamecube direction is bad. But who knows. Nintendo will likely find an excuse somewhere and that ‘the people really wanted more Pikmin, really’.

The rapid speed Nintendo abandoned the Wii makes me never want to purchase another Nintendo hardware again. This is ridiculous considering that the Wii U has backwards compatibility. The SNES didn’t have backwards compatibility (imagine if it did! Ohhh, that would be the Ultimate Console!).
