Gamecube commercials are back

This is the commercial for Pikmin 3.

And after the commercial, I expect to hear, “And find a Pikmin in your next Happy Meal!”

Pikmin 1 commercial: Hang in there little guys!

Pikmin 2 commercial terrifies me as if Munchin Land has come to New York City.

Maybe I am expecting too much. Perhaps it is impossible to sell Pikmin. Perhaps it is the nature of the game that makes the commercials seem uninteresting.

I also find it hypocritical that Miyamoto goes, “Don’t you DARE call NSMB Wii as Super Mario Brothers 5,” while we have Mario Karts being numbered and even Pikmin games. It’s been a couple of generations since Pikmin has come out. Everyone will be asking, “Where is Pikmin 1 and 2? Shouldn’t I play that before 3?” Why not call it Pikmin Wii U or Pikmin Return! or something?

I find it amusing that Nintendo applies one set of rules for a series and then totally different set of rules for another series. Then, Nintendo swaps them around. I am curious why the 2d Mario games stopped being numbered. Perhaps it is because they didn’t want people to have high expectations. It is also very strange that we have never heard why, from Nintendo, games like Super Mario Brothers 4 was renamed to Super Mario World and why games like Pikmin 3 aren’t renamed to Pikmin Wii U or Pikmin World or something.
