Bonus Round invites media to do a show about media

We have two new consoles launching, and their discussion is ‘the state of the media’ and ‘who is a gamer?’ There must not be that much interest in PS4 or Xbone if that was the case. In 2006, it was very different.

The show are people like Pachter and all all gurgling rationalizations. I’ve been in the games media. I’ve been given free games to review. The truth is that games media people want to be considered to be part of the ‘Games Industry’ and not part of ‘those peasants’ meaning the gamers. Games media people also want to ‘break into the games industry’ and start working on making games.

The criticism is that the media are aligning themselves with ‘industry’ instead of with the ‘gamers’. Saying, “But what is the gamer? The gamer doesn’t exist,” is the wrong question. The right question is “What is the industry? The industry doesn’t exist.” I remember when there was no such thing as ‘game developer’. Everyone referred to themselves as gamers. Game developers were just gamers who wrote code. The reason why youtubers and even sites like this are popular is because people are looking for authenticity. They don’t want people associate themselves with ‘the games industry’.

People ask, “What would you do if you were there, Malstrom?” I would try to examine Chobot’s tongue especially with how she did this:

That was the PSP. Now observe how the Chobot licks the Vita:

The reader will notice how the Chobot is not as passionate with the Vita. Why is this? The PSP video is the unmarried Chobot, the Vita video is the married Chobot. The lesson speaks for itself.
