Shhh, reader. I am going to tell you a secret. Let’s just keep it between us.
*lowers voice to a whisper…*
The real reason why Diablo 3 finally got good with Patch 2.0 can be summed up as one thing: Blizzard stripped all the hardcore gaming crap from it.
Think of it! Everything that was wrong with Diablo 3 was designed for the Hardcore Gamer. From the stupid frustrating difficulty levels to the loot that would never drop to the Nephalim Armor, all of these were aimed at the Hardcore Gamer. The reason why Diablo 3 was messed up at endgame (beginning of the game is quite fun) was because it revolved around the Hardcore Gamer.
The problem with Starcraft 2’s multiplayer is, again, that so much was designed around the Hardcore Gamer. Regular gamers find no joy in climbing the gay ladder in Starcraft 2. If an equivalent of Loot 2.0 could be written for Starcraft 2, the multiplayer would no longer revolve around the Hardcore Gamer but around All Gamers.
Go to the nearest Gaming Message Forum and laugh as the hardcore gamers proclaim how good the loo 2.0 patch is without realizing that it is good because they stripped all the hardcore bullshit from the game. Hardcore gamers are like locusts; they do nothing but destroy. Less hardcore = richer quality gaming!
