Email: A simple but timeless question
This could be one of the most fundamental problem with gaming, that is where does one find time to play game when there is so much going on in one’s schedule. Im always looking for a solution that is not entertainment with compromise my RL. I have enough to get myself some top of the line setup and purchase a roster of copies, but the real cost is the time I spend on playing these games are too valuable for not being productive, I often substitute the need for game with programming and art, those skill counts as something, like I can make games with these. Arcade seems like a good idea, you get to have fun even you don;t finish the game, those aren’t meant to be finished for most users.
Games take way too much time today. I still operate among an 8-bit or 16-bit principle. To me, a long and EPIC game is Final Fantasy 6 which is about 30 hours. It is worth it because it is Final Fantasy 6, a game that is smoking on the music, the visuals, and everything else. Today, we have games LONGER than that, and the experience seems more watered down with much filler. I hate that. I avoid those games.
Lately, i’ve just been hanging out with the older games because I can attest their value early on, and they do not cost me much time. The Turbografx 16 games I am currently going through do not waste much of my time.
I use gaming as a way to connect to other people too. Many engineers and nerds like to game. So it gives me something to talk about with them.
I also try to use gaming as a way to study business and technology. This website helps keep my brain thinking about gaming from a business perspective. Gaming also keeps me up to date on computer technology.
One value I never considered but you do as you get older, gaming keeps you in touch with the youth. This is very important. As we age, we tend to go off on our own in or own little world. We cannot live like it is the 1970s or 1980s still. The language the youth uses, the new vocabulary, the energy, all these are useful to know. So many young people are shocked I talk to them in their own language. “Stop being salty!” hahaha
