Cuphead

“Cuphead is amazing. OMG!”

“Buy Cuphead now!”

*gamers orgasm over Cuphead*

So I looked into Cuphead, and I see a game that will be quickly forgotten. I’m giving it a thumbs down in my books.

Why?

Well, I think Cuphead’s uniqueness is its early 20th century cartoon aesthetic. I feel Cuphead is doing the same exact thing that Japanese anime games are doing but using Western cartoon heritage instead. Cuphead makes me realize why Japanese love their games looking like anime.

I actually prefer video games to look like video games and embrace its unique nature. Slapping Contra gameplay with 1920s cartoon style is pretty lazy. It’ll sell, but this style is going to get old fast.
