Email: Instead of the Neo-Geo games on GOG…

Get Cuphead.

I’m almost done with this game, and I would say it may be my game of the year (even above Zelda!) I haven’t had this much fun with a game in years.

There’s not much to it: it’s a run n’ gun sidescroller that’s basically 75% boss battles. But these are some of the best boss battles in gaming. All of them are varied, challenging and polished. It’s not the longest game (there are speedruns of people completing the game in 30 minutes) but I’m on the final stretch, and GOG Galaxy has recorded me playing almost 9 hours, and literally not a moment of that 9 hours can be described as filler.

This game is excellent. I was worried that it would be style over substance, but the interesting art style is merely the hook. It’s the tight and challenging gameplay that makes me wanna keep playing. You will want an Xinput (Xbox) controller, and I would recommend remapping the controls. The only real fault with this game is that the default control scheme is kinda uncomfortable. Thankfully, the game allows you to remap controls how you wish. I remapped the shooting to the triggers, and it helped a lot.

And the soundtrack is amazing.

If people are still playing the game a year from now, I will bite.

A good game is still a good game a year from now. I’m always anti-hype.
